The Creators’ Table

The Creators’ Table is more than a program; it is an invitation to deeper creative work. For me, the journey began as an undeniable intuitive pull—an immediate sense that I needed to occupy a space at the kickoff mixer hosted at the historic Madam Walker Legacy Center.

Stepping onto Indiana Avenue that evening, I felt the weight and wonder of history. Being in a space designed by and for Black entrepreneurship set the perfect tone for a cohort dedicated to expanding the reach of our stories and building sustainable creative legacies in our local community.

Showing Up

Walking into the kickoff mixer at the Madam Walker Legacy Center felt like stepping into a current of creative possibility. Being in such a historic space on Indiana Avenue, surrounded by voices that shared a common drive to build and sustain legacies, made it clear that this wasn't just another program—it was a community in the making. That immediate sense of connection was the spark I needed.

Attending that kickoff led me to apply without hesitation. The process was reflective, challenging me to articulate the vision I had for my storytelling and how I wanted to grow my creative enterprise. When I was selected for the inaugural cohort, I knew that the real work—the deep work of growth—was only just beginning.

Being part of this group has reaffirmed that showing up is more than just being physically present. It is an intentional choice to place yourself in rooms where you can be heard, where you can be challenged, and where you can grow alongside others who are equally committed to their craft and their communities.

The Email I Almost Missed

After the excitement of the mixer and the hope of the application, there was a quiet stretch of silence. I checked my inbox daily, then weekly, until the possibility began to fade. It turns out, my acceptance into the inaugural cohort of The Creators’ Table hadn't been denied—it had simply been misdirected. I found the invitation weeks later, tucked away in a corner of the digital world I rarely visit.

“Sometimes opportunity knocks. Sometimes it lands in your spam folder.”

Growing as a Creative Entrepreneur

My participation in The Creators’ Table has been a catalyst for my evolution as an author, publisher, and storyteller. It provided the space and insight needed to bridge the gap between creative vision and business strategy, fueling the continued development of Leave A Mark Press LLC. Through this journey, I have deepened my commitment to storytelling, history, and community connections, while strategically expanding my creative reach to ensure these narrative seeds find fertile ground and room to thrive as a creative entrepreneur.

More Than a Seat at the Table

Ultimately, this experience was about more than a physical space. it was about the power of recognizing opportunities, the courage to show up, and the intention of placing yourself in environments where creative work can be nurtured. By making these connections and honoring the spaces that celebrate our history and culture, I’ve found a renewed sense of purpose. It’s a celebratory reflection on the growth that happens when we decide that we don’t just want a seat at the table—we want to build the tables where the next generation of stories will be told.
